Sitewide Model of LANL 3-D Geology

This goal of this project is the integration of geologic data acquired from surface studies and from drilling, in order to (1) provide the best possible models of LANL geohydrologic stratigraphy that can be constructed from existing data, (2) provide error estimates on the locations and thicknesses of critical horizons, and (3) provide detailed information and recommendations on studies necessary to fill gaps in the LANL site geohydrologic model. This study provides a modeling tool for digitized 3-D visualization of LANL sitewide geology, with emphasis on the locations of principal geohydrologic horizons. The digital 3-D model is used to integrate data collections and to flag data gaps that need to be filled by future studies. One of the primary advantages of the sitewide model is the integration of surface-based and drill-hole geologic data that before have had no lateral linkage across the entire LANL area.
