Structural Geology

EES-1 conducts investigations in structural geology and tectonics primarily to support applied research but also as basic research. We have expertise in the brittle failure of rock that has evolved through studies of joints and faults and the larger architecture of the Earth’s crust. This expertise includes neotectonic studies that support our Seismic Hazards Program and the Yucca Mountain Project. In tectonics we have extensive experience working with continental rifts and capabilities in plate tectonics.
