Photograph of a soil test pit on a late Pleistocene stream terrace in Rendija Canyon, near the Guaje Mountain fault zone. The pit was excavated as part of a soil-chronosequence study which will allow more confident assessments of the ages of surficial units associated with faulting events. This terrace has an estimated age of ~105-180,000 years, and it is offset ~1.8-2.5 m along the Guaje Mountain fault.
