Research Experience TECHNICAL STAFF MEMBER July 1999-present Los Alamos National Laboratory Principal research projects: structural geology, neotectonics and seismic hazards associated with continental extension; deformation mechanisms and fluid flow in high-porosity geomaterials. Continuing research in Spain on lithospheric thinning and landscape evolution of south-central Pyrenees. Serving on LANL Women's Diversity Working Group (2000-2002) and Fellows Selection Committee (2000). POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW Aug. 1998-July 1999 Los Alamos National Laboratory Researched lithospheric thinning beneath northeastern Spain, erosional denudation and isostatic rebound of the Spanish Pyrenees, and middle Miocene-Pliocene geologic tie-points across Gulf of California Extensional Province, Mexico. Participated in several LANL programs, including 3D modeling of geology and groundwater flow in the Española Basin. DIRECTOR'S-FUNDED POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW Aug. 1996-Aug. 1998 Los Alamos National Laboratory Researched active crustal extension, volcanism, and hypothesized lithospheric thinning beneath northeastern Spain related to plate tectonic movements and/or plume activity. Extensive use of Nd-Sr isotopic analysis, 40Ar/39Ar geochronology, topographic analysis, and structural analysis. FULBRIGHT FELLOW Dec. 1994-March 1996 University of Barcelona, Spain Investigated relationships between post-orogenic isostatic rebound, active normal faulting, and topographic development of northeastern Spain using geomorphic mapping, synthesis of geological and geophysical data sets, and flexural modeling. Research Grants, Fellowships, and Scholarships National Science Foundation Grant, 2000-2002, $250,000. Collaboration with Eric McDonald (Desert Research Institute). Fulbright Professional Research Grant, University of Zaragoza, Spain, 2001-2002. Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics (University of California Collaborative Research Program), 2001 (3-yr grant pending renewal), $17,000 YR1. Collaboration with Laurel Goodwin (NM Tech) & George Guthrie (LANL). Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics, 1997-2000, $81,000. Collaboration with W. Scott Baldridge (LANL) & Yemane Asmerom (UNM). National Geographic Society, 1998-1999, $20,000. Collaboration with Eric McDonald (DRI). |
