The Los Alamos Seismic Hazards Program is largely an applied research effort directed towards evaluation of various seismic hazards at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The program involves geologists, seismologists, and engineers from Los Alamos National Laboratory, as well as personnel from geotechnical consulting firms. In addition, the Laboratory provides a member to the New Mexico State Seismic Safety Council, and we collaborate with the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, New Mexico Bureau of Mines and Mineral Resources, and New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology on projects regarding seismic hazards evaluations and seismic hazards education throughout the state of New Mexico.
